  Amar Automotive will take....

Group History

The Amar Group of Industries,  India based, and with its headquarters in  New Delhi , has grown from the most abrupt beginnings. In the early 1980's Amar group's oil refining business was flourishing and was providing the maximum revenues. But two brothers in the family of six had different plans.

Mr. Karun Thapar led by his elder brother Mr. Arun Thapar diversified into pressed automotive component business by early 1987. Who knew at that point that Amar group destiny would be in this abrupt step taken by the visionary brothers. The first set of machinery was installed in the garage but the business soon made flourishing progress, mainly thanks to contracts for specific bicycle and automotive compoenents from the Hero Group of Industry. In just under a year, M/s Amar Udyog would have its own manufacturing plant and employing over 50 employees.

Business grew organically and 1992 the group's turnover hit the magical $1million mark - £.6million. From here things moved apace. By 1995, the group employed around 250 employees, with 1 state of the art manufacturing plant, and a separate corporate office. By 1997, the 10th anniversary of the founding of the company, Amar Group, had 2 manufacturing plants which were merged the next year, and offices in the  Ludhiana and New Delhi , and turnover had grown to $5 million, and employee numbers were around 400.

From 1998-2000, the pressed component manufacturing industry was hit by a national decline and the Amar Group saw a substantial decline in business during the period. However, the financial prudence of the company meant it was in a position to diversify. In 1999, the group incorporated M/s Amar Industries, a trading company, primarily to deal with the after market requirements of Indian automotive component sector. It now has a distribution network of over 50 distributors covering all major states of India .

This was followed by another capital investment in a greenfield project in 2000, by incorporating a second manufacturing plant , 'M/s Amar Sons', with 10,000 T capacity thoroughly dedicated towards manufacturing precision pressing and welding components primarily for international automotive component requirements.

In 2001, the group invested heavily on its R&D, by building a state of the art R&D and design center to upgrade its skills to compete globally. In 2004, after building internal resource capabilities to handle international demands, the group opened its first International office in the U.K and envisages a vision to be a leading Indian automotive component manufacturer and satisfying demands of global companies.

By now the Group has made its name in the Indian automotive component manufacturing industry and could boast of being a Tier 1 supplier to the Indian Automotive Industry.
